My interest in Library Science began my Freshman year at Sam Houston State University. I remember
walking through the doors of Newton Gresham Library with my English assignment in hand, feeling overwhelmed and clueless!
I did not know how to properly utilize my most valuable resource - the library. I had managed to muddle through twelve years
of public school without truly learning the tricks and trades of this magnificent place. I knew then that I wanted to teach
students how to use and appreciate libraries.
Like most librarians, I have a deep appreciation for books and information. My experience as a Library
Science student has further stimulated my love for reading and I want to share my passion with students and adults alike.
My coursework here at Sam has prepared me for the demanding role of a librarian. I found my graduate school experience
to be enjoyable and fulfilling. I appreciated the small, intimate class settings and feel that I learned from a faculty of
caring professionals. My graduate school experience has been both challenging and rewarding.
My portfolio is divided into four sections: Resources and Services, Administration, Literature, and
Technology. At the beginning of each section is a short introductory paragraph briefly explaining the major concepts learned
through my coursework. In addition, I have posted examples of assignments completed throughout my years in the Library
Science program.
Below you can review various samples of my work.
Sincerely,
Tina H. Woodward
