Literature

This page contains examples of the literature surveys I have completed.

The Literature courses at Sam Houston State University have nurtured my existing appreciation of books and love for reading. Literature for Children and Young Adults has taught me the importance of book talking to entice student's curiosity. This is a technique I use often in my internship. The weeding process is another skill covered in my Literature courses that I have used throughout my internship. Handling challenges to materials is an area that I have not had a lot of first hand experience with. However, I feel confident in my ability to respond to challenges in a professional manner using the methods learned through my coursework, my district policies, and ALA materials. I know that an outstanding selection criteria is the key to an outstanding collection and my Literature courses have provided me with the framework needed to compile such a collection.
