Here is information about my 5th grade classroom.

I try to create a fun and comfortable environment for equal-opportunity learning.

Mrs. Woodward's classroom procedures

Entering the Room:

Students should find their seats and immediately begin working on their warm-up assignment. If homework was assigned it should be out and ready for collection.

Leaving the Room:

All students will remain seated until dismissed. Materials will be cleaned up, desks will be straightened and the room will be tidied befor students leave.

Sharpening Pencils:

When a student needs to sharpen a pencil, they will get up and get a new one from the "pencil exchange" cup. They will leave their unsharpened pencil so that I can sharpen them for the next day.

Questions:

If students wish to ask a question, answer a question, or need to get my attention, they should raise their hand.

Emergency Signals:

If the emergency signal sounds, students should remain in their seats and first listen to the announcement, then to my instructions.

Restrooms Breaks:

Students are encouraged to take care of restroom breaks in between classes. Breaks during class should be reserved for emergencies only.

Switching Classes:

Changing classes should be done in line formation, with minimal talking. We must remember that others in the building are having class and deserve an undisturbed learning environment.

Announcements:

If an announcment comes over the speaker, students are to immediately stop talking and listen.

Handing in and Returning Assignments:

All homework and in class assignments are to be turned into each classroom’s designated tray on the day that it is due. Late work will be accepted, but will suffer a reduction in grade. Please see LISD Student Handbook for more information on late work. Graded papers will be recorded and returned in a timely manner.
