Policy Statement Regarding Safe Use of AV Carts

To be posted in Equipment Room

Recommended Precautions:

Students are not allowed to man AV carts, teachers only.
Read the following before allowing any AV cart to be moved.
Inspect the cart you choose before use, if you see any problems with the structure or wheels of the cart, please notify the librarian.
Disconnect all electrical cords, secure all cords, drawers and doors if applicable. Make sure all equipment such as TV’s are strapped to cart so when the cart stops the TV will not slip.
Equipment too heavy for the cart’s capacity will put too much stress on the unit and result in handling difficulty.
Push the cart, never pull.
Make sure you have clear vision to see where you are going. Avoid pushing the cart over rough spots in the floor if possible.
Once you are set up for stationary use or when loading/unloading materials, always engage wheel locks.
